Teaching Philosophy
Throughout my educational career, I have been very fortunate to have had some of the best teachers and resources, both musical and nonmusical. Because of this, I greatly value a holistic approach to teaching the horn. Playing music is a physical, intellectual, emotional, psychological, and, most importantly, mental process. As such, all aspects of the performer must be balanced harmoniously in accordance to the natural world in which we live. Learning to play the horn requires a great level of curiosity. It also requires the skillset of learning how to learn. Since these concepts are crucial foundations for every facet of life, it is my goal to have my students be successful in any field they choose to apply themselves. Learning is also a highly synergistic process, as I am able to learn as a teacher and as a performer when I teach.
I am available to teach privately in the DMV area. My studios are based in Laurel and Ellicott City. If you are interested in a trial lesson, feel free to send me an email or contact me here:
